Wireless power specialist Fulton Innovation has integrated its eCoupled technology into a kitchen blender to demonstrate the versatility of the technology.
The blender works without a power cord or cable by simply placing it on an eCoupled-enabled countertop or work surface.
The company says that high-powered kitchen devices like blenders, grills, and coffee makers often require kilowatts of power and are thus a a much greater technological challenge than low-powered devices such as mobile phones and MP3 players that only need five watts or less.
Fulton, a subsidiary of the giant Amway Corporation(Ada, Michigan), says it is working with many companies, such as Motorola, Leggett & Platt, and Herman Miller, to make power and charging cords obsolete in everything from cell phones to power tools. Read more
