Having struggled since they released the extremely popular Razr years ago, Motorola is still trying to regain it's position at the top of the heap as it stands toe to toe with some very stiff competition in the mobile phone market.

While other manufacturers are pulling back on chip development because of the bleak economy, Samsung is now stepping up its work on WiMAX and LTE so as to bring down its royalty payments -- and quite possibly, its financial risk.
